EID AL-ADHA
- Muslim holiday ("The Feast of the Sacrifice") that commemorates Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael to God; the holiday is begun by sacrificing an animal (to commemorate God's mercy in substituting a lamb for Ishmael), and is celebrated in much the same way as Eid al-Fitr, with good food, gifts for children and general merrymaking.
- Usage: Various references to the holiday as it was celebrated worldwide.
