KOPI LUWAK
- A rare type of coffee brewed from beans grown on the islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi, which are gathered after having been eaten and then excreted by a type of a small marsupial called the paradoxurus, a cat-like tree-dwelling animal commonly called a "luwak," indigenous to Indonesia, which allegedly only eats the ripest, reddest coffee cherries, and its stomach enzymes allegedly enhance the flavor of the brewed coffee, described as "heavy-bodied," "earthy," "musty," "syrupy," with hints of chocolate and caramel; the coffee has been known to fetch $175 for each quarter pound.
