ACETAMINOPHEN
A crystalline compound that is a hydroxy derivative of acetanilide and is used in chemical synthesis and in medicine to relieve pain and fever.
Usage: Report on FDA study citing overuse of acetaminophen-containing products in the U.S. (reportedly in nearly 200 different branded and generic products, from headache relievers to cold and cough remedies), potentially responsible for approximately 100 deaths each year and countless cases of liver damage.
