SOYUZ
- The primary launch rocket and vehicle of the Russian space program; first launched in 1963, Soyuz is a two-stage rocket that can deliver a payload of over 15,000 pounds into low-Earth orbit; a Soyuz capsule will soon be delivered to the international space station to be used as an emergency escape vehicle for astronauts.
