NEWS
Local, national, and international news programs closed captioned by MCS cover a broad spectrum of events, which can include topics as diverse as politics, geography, culture, religion, crime, business -- often packaged together in one broadcast.

One of the main challenges of covering live news programs is the endless task of researching and archiving proper spellings of names, places, events, companies, public figures, political leaders, and government agencies from around the world. Our captioners prepare on a daily basis by continually updating their word dictionaries to incorporate the proper spellings of key terms covered in the day's news.

Being able to provide closed captioning of breaking news as it is broadcast live without interruption is an MCS specialty. Full staffing, technological redundancy, and proper planning helps keep MCS' realtime closed captioning coverage complete, while maintaining quality control for live, unscripted captioning of breaking news events.

In order to meet the requirements and challenges of providing closed captioning for live news programs, MCS captioners are trained to write 225 words per minute and above, make use of extensive monitoring and feedback forms, and maintain captioning dictionaries of 50,000 to over 300,000 entries.
