SPECIAL
Media Captioning Services provides closed captioning for special programming for our clients.

Like the other types of programs closed captioned by MCS, special programs require proper preplanning and research to maintain accuracy of spelling and content.

Sometimes, special programming is preannounced, giving a captioner time to prepare. Other times, specials are run on holidays, or in some cases run without warning. Being familiar with a client's typical fare, whether it's news, sports, business, or entertainment, helps give us a heads-up. In some cases, such as live, breaking news, there can be no preparation involved.

MCS has closed captioned some of the most compelling events of our time. Our captioners have captioned, in realtime, coverage of events such as The Gulf War and subsequent airstrikes on Iraq, the O.J. Simpson trial in its entirety, the U.S. invasions of Panama and Haiti, devastating wildfires in Southern California, the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the NATO air campaign against Yugoslavia, the death of Princess Diana, and the recent crash of John Kennedy Jr.'s plane, among others.

The realtime closed captioning of breaking news is a specialty of Media Captioning Services, and we have developed the processes and procedures to be able to caption major breaking domestic and international news stories for extended periods of time.
